Hello lovelies, I’m back again with another blog post. Over the weekend my family and I decided to drive up to Kelowna, BC. For those of you who haven’t heard of Kelowna, it is a city in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The Okanagan Valley is well known for their wineries.
So what’s the best thing to do over the weekend when you are in Kelowna, you ask?
Well, that’s easy! Go wine tasting! (That’s if you’re over 19 yrs. haha) Some of the wineries offer complimentary wine tasting if you purchase something, and some offer free wine tasting even if you don’t buy anything. Sounds great right?
For starters, I am not in any way an expert about wines, but I thought it would be cool to share the wineries we visited over the weekend.
1.) Summerhill Pyramid Winery – Apparently, this winery is the most visited winery in British Columbia. Well, it is the first winery to be ever certified as an organic winery which is pretty cool. Plus, they have a bistro which offers organic lunch and dinner. This was my third time visiting this winery, they offer 4 complimentary wine tasting which is awesome. And their tasting room is quite spacious and well staffed who are happy to serve you. Summerhill should be one of the wineries on your list to visit.
2.) Mission Hill – Although they don’t offer free wine tasting, their winery is absolutely stunning. The view and architecture is something not to be missed. For some reason, it reminded me of a church. They offer winery tours if you are interested in a more detailed experience about how and where they make their wines 🙂 (That is something I would love to try the next time I visit Kelowna)
3.) Mt. Boucherie Winery – This was the last winery we visited. It was a spontaneous visit before we head back to Vancouver. We were looking for a winery on the way, when we spotted this. They offer wine tasting, but they charge $3.00 per person that would be waived after your purchase. Well, I think you can never go wrong if you visit this place. They always have a special deal, in our case there was a $10 special deal for one white and one red wine which is pretty cool. And their staff that time was Cathy. She’s pretty awesome, and is really friendly.
4.) Volcanic Hills Winery – This was the first winery that we visited that weekend. Their tasting room is spacious, and they have a tasting fee of $5.00 for 4 table wines and it’s waived with every wine purchase. They offer a wide range of wines from red, white, Icewine and sparkling.
5.) Quails’ Gate Winery – Another one of the wineries we visited is the Quails’ Gate. It has a tasting room and restaurant. Their Wine Bar and restaurant is absolutely amazing with breathtaking views. This winery gives a classy vibe, and the prices of wines range from affordable to expensive depending on what kind of wine you’ll buy.
Thanks for reading my post. Have you been to any of the wineries in Kelowna? What’s your go-to wine?
